MIPD Receive Free Custom Fit Earpieces

“We were trying to figure out how we could give back,” said Donald Kleindl II, HAS, BC-HIS, ACA, MCAP, board-certified audioprosthologist and director of the firm, and son of the company’s founder. “Up in Green Lake, Wisconsin, we saw the SWAT team had these one size fits all earpieces, and they were duct taping the earpieces into their ears. It was painful. Or they would be issued the earpieces, but they wouldn’t wear them.”

Now, he said, the Kleindl firm has donated the custom silicone earpieces to over 220 officers. In addition to providing them for each member of the force on Marco Island, they are providing them for the Lee and Collier County Sheriffs’ Offices.

Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen Fit with Custom In-the-Ear Monitors

Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen met with Donald R. Kleindl II, HAS, BC-HIS, ACA, MCAP to be fit by custom in-the-ear musician monitors. Rick’s new monitors not only protect his hearing, but also allow him to hear music with clarity and crispness.

“In just a few seconds, and especially over long periods of time, loud sounds and music can really do serious damage to your hearing,” Nielsen said.

Donald R. Kleindl II, HAS, BC-HIS, ACA, MCAP explains, “Rock Stars are not the only individuals at risk. Any hobby or occupation with an exposure to hazardous noise levels can cause Tinnitus and severe, permanent hearing loss.”

Rick Nielsen, donning Cheap Trick’s trademark checker board pattern in-the-ear monitors, understands the necessity of hearing protection and maintains, “As a musician, your hearing is the most important instrument you have.”

Kleindl Meets Renowned Ear Surgeon

Donald R. Kleindl II, HAS, BC-HIS, ACA, MCAP met with world renowned ear surgeon Doctor Herbert Silverstein, MD, Founder and President of the Ear Research Foundation.

The Ear Research Foundation is funded by donations from supporters to help further their research efforts and provide cutting-edge instruction to physicians from around the world. They also provide community seminars, support groups, and free and sliding scale hearing clinics that offer much-needed treatment, particularly to children.

Law Enforcement Receive Free Custom Fit Earpieces

The importance of communication in emergency situations cannot be measured. Unfortunately, sometimes having a walkie-talkie on your shoulder a foot away from your ear is a foot too far.

The Kleindl family are showing their support and gratitude to law enforcement by designing custom fitted ear-pieces as a courtesy for their life saving services. The custom earpieces attach directly to the officers’ radios providing hands-free operation; they eliminate radio sound to any outside listeners, which can protect officers during a crisis situation.

“This was our chance to give back to the community,” said Donald R. Kleindl II, HAS, BC- HIS, ACA, MCAP. To date, we have donated over 150 earpieces to law enforcement officers in several states.

Hearing System Donated to Cancer Society

Donald R. Kleindl II, , HAS, BC-HIS, ACA, MCAP donated a hearing system (est. value: $4,900) to the highest bidder in the Cancer Society’s Relay for Life Silent Auction.

Stephen Myers won the bid. Mr. Meyers said, “The staff was very knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. My new hearing aids are great. My wife and children no longer sound like they are mumbling!”

Celebrating 62 Years in Service

The practice was founded in 1952 by Donald R. Kleindl, Sr., BC-HIS, at a time when batteries were first developed to fit inside hearing instruments. Today the practice is overseen by his son and grandson, Donald R. Kleindl II, HAS, BC-HIS, ACA, MCAP and Donald R. Kleindl III, HAS, BC-HIS.

The Kleindl family’s life mission still remains the same – to provide the hearing impaired quality service and care.
